How much does it cost? The early bird fee for the workshop is $400 and increases to $500 if you register less than 2 weeks prior to the event. You will be responsible for any lodging and meals during your stay in Benton Harbor.
What should I bring? Bring your camera! Bring a notebook. Bring any snacks you need.
Are we learning film or digital? Feel free to bring either. We can work with both.
Do I need to bring lights? No, we will be using natural light in one session and lighting is provided for the studio session.
What about lunch? You can join the group for lunch from 12-1:30 a great local restaurant. We will share several photography books and discuss some history of the artform. Or feel free to choose your own lunch adventure.
Will I get any one-on-one time with the model? Within each two hour session, each photographer will be working with the models directly.
Where will I stay if I need to overnight? There are a number of places to stay in the area.
What will I learn? You will learn how to interact with a model on a professional level, how to utilize an assistant, how to think about posing from behind the lens and communicate with the model about what you’re trying to achieve. You will also be learning studio lighting techniques.
What if it rains? Our outdoor session will be moved to the enclosed porch of the house. The porch has large windows and lots of natural light. Rain would provide some lovely light and backdrops for the session. This is our backup for inclement weather.
Will there be any animals? There are two old, sweet dogs who will primarily be in the house, not the studio.
